Introduction to online tool and navigation

Purpose

Provide online solutions for some requirements or problems

Some requirements or problems means requirements or problems you or I meet at work or life, and they are very much, most of which are tiny, so only provide tools for some of them I select.

Solution means one tool or a suite of tools to solve the real problem, which is on this website or other website I recommend or navigate.

Online solution means online form or interface of solution. Also provide offline solution if users require it or cannot provide online form. If the user has a great demand for functions but the tool has almost no harm to user data and privacy, such a solution will also be provided.

Tools means the final products (mainly executable software) that can help people solve problems, Representing products (mainly documents, codes, etc.) and their derivative products (mainly help documents, introduction, analysis and evaluation of tools, etc.)

Principles

  • Practical Features

    • Solve the real problems

    • Form a real solution to the problem

  • Secure and Reliable

    • Use secure methods to provide services for tools

    • Do not leak or sell user’s privacy and data

  • Excellent Quality

    • Continuously optimize tool’s performance, features, stability, etc.

    • Tools navigated or recommended by me should be really useful and easy to use

    • The document is accurate, useful and effective

  • Simple to Use

    • Access anytime

    • Continuously optimize access speed

    • Provide help documentation

    • Provide as many effective ways to use as possible

    • Provide a simple and concise user interface

    • Provide ways for user’s feedback and communication

  • Evaluation based on facts

    • Evaluate whether the tool is of high quality, and open the standards and facts

    • Accept the facts and judgments from users

These are the Features and Guiding Principles of this website.

They are the ideal principles. The actual situation is complicated, and the minimum principles are “Practical Features” and “Secure and Reliabe”.

Background

Today, there are already many tools that are open source. Using these tools is not so easy. It requires understanding, installation, configuration, and maintenance. Especially for persons who has no IT knowledge, it is not so easy to run tools to form usable interfaces. If some tools really solve the real problems, It is also necessary to integrate other related tools, which is another difficult task.

Nowadays, many tool manufacturers have such a trend, which is that the tools are APP-oriented. The main reasons for this situation are to increase user retention rate, usage rate and gain more user privacy. Some tool manufacturers also have corresponding online form. However, these online tools did not do a good job, mainly to attact users’ attention and increase the exposure rate. There are many security issues and privacy leaks in this situation.

There are some other issues, and I won’t explain them all here.

Summarize these issues as follows:

  1. Problems of tool usability(find the tool you want and run it for use, let the solution be presented to you)

  • It is not can be done for everyone to judge and evaluate if a tool is good, and standards or needs for everyone are different.

  • It is not easy to find good tools. There are so many tools, and finding useful tools is time-consuming and laborious.

  • It is not easy for some tools to run and form a usable interface.

  • It is not easy to integrate multiple tools to form a solution.

  1. Problems of using tool easily(how to make the tools easier to use)

  • Some tools are not easy to use, especially for person who has no IT knowledge.

  • Some tools only have a command-line interface and no other friendly interface.

  • The graphical interface of some tools is rough and ugly, too cumbersome, and not simple and concise to use.

  • Some tool interfaces only provide the use of mouse clicks, without or rarely providing shortcut keys.

  • Some tools have no documentation or help documentation, or the documentation is not easy to use.

  1. Problems of tool’s security issues(there will be no harm to you or your assets during or after using the tool)

  • Some tool manufacturers make APP only or pay more attention to APP, with the purpose of increasing the retention rate, usage rate and gaining more privacy of users.

  • Some tools, especially APP tools, require too many permissions and privacy.

  • Some tools will connect to the servers of manufacturers or partners during operation to steal data and privacy.

  • Some tools take up more memory when running and use too much computer resources.

  • Some tools are malicious, not user-centric, but treating users as lambs to be slaughtered.

  • Some tools contain or are viruses that damage users’ computers, information, or other assets.

  • After using some tools, some rubbish generated by them take up resources such as computer memory and hard disk.

  • After using some tools, there are back doors opened by them in order to access your computer quietly afterwards.

How to solve these problems?

I think providing a set of online tools and navigation can partially solve these problems at technical level.

Usage

  1. Find tool

Find the tool you want to use in the bar of tool category or navigation, and click its name.

The name of the tool being used is displayed in black.

  2. View Usage

View usage tips on the tool page.

There is a help link in the upper right corner, and there are use cases, usage guides and background knowledge and so on in the help document.

  3. Input data

Input data in the input box according to the tool usage.

  4. Click button

Click button of query or other operation.

  5. Examine Results

Wait a moment, the results of the tool will be displayed at the bottom of the page.

Declaration

This is a project for long-term investment, development and maintenance, and doing everything well is a gradual process.
